The decor of FireBrew is really nice. Very comfy and the wine-taster-card-idea is cool. Plus, on Wednesday (I think it was Wednesday) they have 1/2 price bottles. However, some of the reds are only worth about $5-$7 a bottle at your local grocery store and at Firebrew they're around $20. I had the tuscan pasta dish with artichokes, asparagus, and shrimp. I liked it...however, the shrimp were overcooked. I only ate a few of them. Very chewy. Although I didn't finish all the pasta I didn't ask for a to-go bag. It was just very "Meh". Definitely not a dish I'd order again. My boyfriend wanted the Sheppard's Pie and to be honest it was the whole reason we went there. We checked the menu out online at home and once he saw Sheppards Pie we wanted to go. We get seated, in the far back corner past the kitchen, even though the restaurant was not at full capacity and we ordered a bottle of wine. When my boyfriend asked for the pie he was informed they were sold out. Since we already ordered wine we didn't want to leave, but had we not, we would have. He ended up ordering a home style pot roast which is essentially the same ingredients as the sheppards pie so I'm not really sure what they were out of...I really enjoyed it. The meat was tender and tasted like it was slow roasted. I'd probably order that next time. Overall, I enjoyed it. I would have liked to have known which menu items they were out of from the beginning though. Also, I hated being seated in the last booth by the restrooms when there were other seats available. Had the bottle of wine not been half price, it would have been a rip off. Although, most restaurants overcharge the shit out of wine.

I went to this place at random with the wife and was very pleasantly surprised with it. The atmosphere is very laid back with decent decor to match the mood. The staff was very friendly (almost too friendly at times) and we were immediately made to feel at home there. We ordered the tuna nachos and I STRONGLY suggest this to everyone else who eats there. It was the best set of nachos I have ever had. (By the way, this was just the appetizer) For the main course I ordered the stuffed salmon and was amazed at it. It tasted spectacular. Even the beer is done with a twist. You get a beer token and pour your own beer. You get charged for how much beer you get, as opposed to ordering a tall glass and not drinking the whole thing. They have the standard beers you find everywhere there as well as local brews which are really good as well. Give this place a try. You just might enjoy it!

Some friends and I came here during VA Beach Restaurant week and were very pleasantly suprised! The food was amazing and the waiter was sooo attentive. I love their wine bar which is in the machines that you go to and get it yourself and you can try different kinds by selecting the button to try it or you can just go ahead and get a full glass. A ton of fun and very different. Go check it out!!.....

My husband and I frequent this restaurant and always have such great food! I love the French dip! I do wish they would offer steak fries. I am not a big fan of their potatoes. Bring back the ribeye with the Dijon mustard!
(4)Bec J.
Fresh food with excellent flavor & reasonable prices! Wine & beer on self serve tap. God service too.

Firebrew was a surprising success when I visited. Pros: very reasonable prices, good (not spectacular) food, local beers, self-serve wine bar Cons: menu is "safe" - tilapia, salmon, and chicken; quesadillas make an appearance. service was slow and uninspired. Overall, I would say this place is a good place for a first date or if you're into good food and drink but want to save money. 16 oz microbrew drafts are just $3.50 during happy hour, and wines by the bottle are half price (which makes them about $10-$20). Happy hour lasts from 4 to 7. Food portions are sizeable, but not outrageous. My rotisserie chicken lacked salt and sported flabby skin, but its juices spiked the fantastic garlic mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables it came with. My friend's salmon was cooked nicely (if a tad overdone for my sashimi-leaning taste), with a well-balanced crust. Accompanying asparagus again lacked salt but crunched nicely. A third dinner mate's cobb salad arrived overflowing from its bowl, but she finished every bite, saying it was the best she'd had in a long time. I appreciate the smart touches at this restaurant. My roasted vegetables consisted of season-appropriate summer squash. The wine list encourages tasting and eliminates intimidation, with half-glass and tasting sizes available. I suspect this place will really take off once word gets out; it could really go places if the front-house staff takes themselves just a little more seriously and the kitchen staff let loose just a bit more.

Really slow service- 90min to get entrees. Was told we just had a really big order before you. Really poor food--awful bacon wrapped shrimp covered with pepper comes with bland rice. Will not return.
(1)Jon M.
Pricey but nice atmosphere. Wine lovers will really enjoy it.
(3)Aeneas L.
Great bacon wrapped flat iron steak. Good prices on beer and wine bar. Lots of Cougars here!
(5)Donna R.
Firebrew is wonderful. Food is always good and fresh. A great selection of beer and wine. Love that they sell beer from the local breweries. Veggie platter is one of my favorites, fresh hummus, goat cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers served with warm pita points absolutely amazing. Flatbread, pizzas. Not a bad item on the menu. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Love this place.
(5)Quint B.
Great lunch menu, and decent selection of domestic and craft beers. Fire Brew's concept is a cool one, with self serve wine and beer stations, and a well put together American-European menu. The saturday I dined there some friends and I had sandwiches and beer. All four of us were impressed with the quality vs cost, good drafts, and complimentary soup which is a Saturday special; try the French onion, it's amazing! Definitely going back for the discounted wine tasting and dinner some night soon.

I love to order take out. No one has to get dressed or loaded up in the car. I decided to order take out from here because of the kids eat free on Sunday special. When I went to pick up our food I reminded the bartender about the special which she promptly took care of but then acted like she was doing me a favor by saying that it was normally only a special for dine in (doesnt say this anywhere on the menu or website so I guess it is a secret stipulation). Luckily we live close by so the food was still hot when we hungrily dove in. The pizza was a hit but that was it. The soup was really fishy and the sandwich meat was gummy and had a bad flavor the mashed potatoes were equally terrible it was like the bottom of the barrel terrible. The reason i went on a long speil about the pizza is because It's ironic that that ended up being the only thing worth eating. Guess we will be eating cereal tonight.

This place is awesome! Everything is made in their fire oven, nothing is fried or microwaved. They have self serve wine and beer stations, such a cool concept! Our group loves that they were able to taste different types of beer or wine, as there are good varieties. We had the flatbread for an appetizer, absolutely amazing! Our waitress who was very nice and informative then asked us if we would like complimentary bread, we said yea and she brought bread right out to our table. It was very good and homemade. I had the beggars pasta, holy cow it was sooooo good! It had a ton of shrimp on it and was done to perfection. The rest of the group ordered the margarita pizza, Chicago style pizza, and the grilled chicken sandwich. They all said everything was super delicious! The restaurant has a relaxed possible atmosphere and the owners who were both there are very nice and came I our table and asked us how everything was. Overall it has good service, is reasonably priced, great food, wine, and beer, and a cool concept. We will be back!
(5)Chris S.
Nice look to the place and the bar is pretty nice as well. Staff are friendly. The food is really boring though. I think if they dont revamp the menu soon then they will be destined to fail. I had the ceasar salad which was extremely plain, the appetizer platter which again was pretty boring and the bbq chicken pizza which was pretty good. The place has "win" potential specially with the self service wine station that I've never seen anywhere else. The food just needs to be better then the applebee's down the road however.
(2)Heather A.
AMAZING FOOD to the person above me im not sure when you went or what happened but ive been for lunch once and dinner twice and each time been floored with taste and flavor, thats a huge compliment from a chefs lips (who does not work in the place)
(5)Cynthia B.
I purchased a groupon so we thought we would try it out. My husband and I had dinner here tonight and it was fabulous. I had the mushroom soup and the Whiskey BBQ Burger. He had the Side Caesar Salad and the Prime Rib Sandwich with aujour dip. The whole meal was fantastic. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. The Whiskey BBQ Burger was particularly tasty. The restaurant was spotless, clean and airy, Our server, Dan, was very courteous, funny and informative. This was our first time there and we will definitely return. The next time we will try the self-serve wine bar, which seems interesting. Enjoyed the experience.
(4)Lisa K.
Great pizza and even better beer!
(5)David D.
Great pizza and pastas. Good selection of local brews. Have a different choices of wine. Good staff and atmosphere.
(5)Jennifer S.
Fire Brew is an amazing local-owned restaurant that has an awesome atmosphere including 24 self service wine stations & terrific food. I have yet to have anything there I didn't like. Very relaxing & the owner is always there to give the personal touch. If you go to their web site and sign up for their rewards program they send you great discounts!
(5)Joe Q.
Great place. Good food and love the wine and beer "serve yourself" concept. Local brews and wines are great. Fantastic service and food. Good time and great atmosphere.
(4)Gigi G.
Firebrew was a diamond in the rough when my friends and I went to VA Beach on vacation. It's a really cool concept to be able to taste different beers and wines yourself. I ordered the Bacon & Bleu Burger and it was delicious. I think our server was new because everything we ordered from beer keys, to food, to asking for the check took way too long. Even though we came with a group of 11 they did not honor the group special featured in the menu because we had separate checks (that was kind of lame). 4 stars for awesome food and uniqueness of booze drinking.
(4)Denise N.
This place is fantastic. It is a family run business and you can see that passion in everything. And who would have imagined a serve yourself wine bar and craft beer station. This is just the vibe and atmosphere....then there is the food. Everything is cooked brick oven method...nothing fried. Even the potato chips are made fresh. Joined the rewards program because this will be a regular stop on all my future va beach trips.

It's rare to find a restaurant that has a 'Happy hour' on the weekends but we lucked out! 12 local beers on tap, self serve wine bar (did I say it's SELF SERVE!). The menu was full of wonderful items (BACON wrapped asparagus, ahi tuna, mahi mahi...). First visit here, our bartender/server (Jenny) was quick, efficient and knowledgable about the beers (even offering a small taste for ones we had never tried before). We'll be back!!!
(4)Frederica P.
Let me start by saying that I've had one of the best servers in the 757. Tiffany was awesome; she was very knowledgeable of the menu, kind, attentive, and accommodating. She recommended that I have the special which was the crab stuffed Mahi. The entree itself was okay. My food was a tad overcooked and dry and the olive tapenade didn't seem to compliment the meal at all. My dinner guest had the Prime Rib which was absolutely superb! I love the atmosphere and will always keep Firebrew as one of my all time favs.
(3)Tammy S.
great service and great food! Our server was very attentive.

I went here for a birthday celebration and after reading the yelp reviews I was super excited to eat here partly because of the wine bar. The menu was a little overwhelming. I was so confused of what to eat. I settled for the Rib Eye Steak and it was ok. The sauce that was on top was overpowering and after awhile, you tasted the sauce more than the steak. If you were to order the rib eye, get the sauce on the side or leave it out. The roasted potatoes are ok, but did not seem to wow me. The wine bar made up for the food. It is an interesting concept and I love it! Instead of waiting for someone to get you the wine, you could always go up to the bar and refill it yourself. They give you a card to insert at the bar and it keeps track how much wine you get. Awesome idea and I would come here for their happy hour to do it again. I'll probably give this restaurant another try again in the near future. I would definitely come back for the happy hour but the food did not satisfy my taste buds. I give this restaurant 3 stars only because of the wine bar.

The ambiance was great but it's kinda expensive.

I took my boyfriend and his mom to Firebrew the weekend of Easter and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The fact that everything is cooked from scratch is the icing on the cake for me. My boyfriend ordered the Beggar's Pasta, his mom ordered the BBQ shrimp and jasmine rice.. And I got the meatloaf-- (which I actually sent back because it was sweet--- I personally don't enjoy sweet meat but I know people that do lol). I ended up ordering the Beggars Pasta as a replacement and it was the bomb.com I've been craving it ever since!!! The self serve wine was cool too- albeit over prices for my taste but they had an option where you can do tastings which I thought was a great idea !!
(4)John M.
This was a great experience. The self serve beer taps was a great way to sample local brews without having to have a full glass. We tried three different pizzas and all hit the spot. The Chicken Club was also great. My 15 yr old remarked that this was good and she would like to come back. Our server Tiffany was always there at the right time which is huge. Quick but not rushed. I really enjoyed the experience. We need one of these in NJ!
(5)Tamara B.
Dined during restaurant week and read the reviews on this place before we tried it. The reviews are not wrong. Truly amazing. Wine and beer on self serve....you can't get better than that! The service was perfect! The food was even better! Wonderful place for a date or for a family atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!!!!
(5)Rhys P.
Firebrew is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I dine there frequently. Their wait staff is top-notch. Their revised menu has something for any one's taste, especially their pizzas. The prices are reasonable. All in all, a great place to dine. They vary their menus to coincide with various holidays. Col P.

Stopped in briefly on a Friday evening before heading to a function at a nearby residence. Told myself that I would come back soon where I would be able to spend some time there and get my version of the full fledged experience. Ended up coming back the very next day. It was a Saturday and I arrived somewhat early evening. Around 5:00 give or take a few minutes. My friend who I was with on the Friday evening in question also decided to make a trip back the very next day. She too wanted to spend a little more time there. I received a phone call from her stating she was headed back to meet some folks. So I rolled back to Firebrew as well. Let me say that my visit took place in the bar area. At the bar. Both nights that's where I was. Regardless of where I go I am always a fan of bar seating. I just am. Whether I am just drinking, just eating, or both. Nothing wrong with dining at a table naturally, but I'm not married nor do I have any kids so I am always more than content to pony up at a bar. It's certainly my preference anyway. On the brief stop Friday I had two draft beers ordered directly from the bartender. I had a RipTide Altbier from Beach Brewing here in Va. Beach (where I still need to go check out) and a Hoegaarden Belgian Wheat. Solid selection of draft beers. Like at least a dozen. With some good local stuff as well like the RipTide, a Smartmouth Amber, a St. George Nut Brown Ale, and more! When I came back on Saturday I went ahead and gave the beer station a try. It is not really my thing. I LOVE beer, but yeah even though it was somewhat convenient as the beer station was directly behind my barstool I won't go that route again. I would rather have my beers served to me. With that being said the beer station is hi-tech. And pretty cool. You get a little magnet that communicates with the system while you pour and tracks everything for you. I mean that's neat. As far as food I had the Firebrew Dip. Their version of the french dip. And it was tasty. Sitting at the bar you are right there in front of the open kitchen. I like that. Cool vibe and cool folks in the kitchen. But yeah the meat was tender and was a nice marriage with the oven-melted Swiss. And maybe the best part was the au jus. It was flavorful. I sopped it all up with my last bite. The decor was cool. As well as the layout. I felt very comfortable there. By no means is this a 'drawback' , but the location is somewhat far from where I call home. Even so I indeed look forward to making another trip back in the future.

Wow, this place has it all! Located in a cozy little shopping center, nice and comfy interior. But now the important things. Do you like wine? They have a self serve wine bar you can select what you want by the glass with a wine card, never seen that before. My wife occasionally drinks wine but the waitress recommended some to try and my wide ended up getting a whole bottle, they will cork it for you to finish at home. Do you like beer? Not Bud Light or any other watered done stuff, they serve several local brews that you can surely fine to your liking. The food, I know we all want to be more healthy and avoid greasy fries foods, good news NOTHING here is fried! You can watch all of your food being cooked. I had heard amazing things about the crab cakes, but asked our waitress what she recommended and she said the Bacon and Blue steak, blue cheese / red wine sauce and bacon on top! The most amazing flavor ever, I've eaten my fair share of steaks around the country, Texas, Vegas, NYC, etc. This was the best steak I've ever had! Like Jack Shepard on Lost I wanna go back. FYI - The owners are the ones that brought Tropical Smoothie into the area. They have since sold those stores. They can be seen working, including the daughter(s).

My wife and I have been here quite a few times and it's always been an awesome experience. The menu isn't huge, but the quality is great. We typically try the newly featured beers and they rarely disappoint. Everyone who has served us (bar and tables) has always been really cool and laid back people. They are fun to interact with, but don't become overbearing. We usually try to pizza options or the sandwich options. I've yet to have a bad meal and seasonal menu updates are always great additions to keep the flavor new and changing! I highly recommend this spot for casual dinners. Not too fancy, but nice enough to keep the crowd enjoyable. Also have had the kids there a couple times and they've enjoyed it. A win/win.
(5)Cathy B.
Great food, great craft beer, friendly service.. Justin was top notch!! Can't wait to go back and try some more...
(5)Stephen M.
I would love to give them a five but it's missing something the food was good the service was good the environment also good. I will return again but I think it fell short of four or five stars. I would recommend going here to eat but if your looking for a wow factor your not going to get it here just a good place to eat with the and or kids. The wine bar is unique but I go to a restaurant to have someone serve me not serve myself. This place has a lot of potential but is falling a little short. I recommend if your looking for a food nite out go for it but if your looking for a unique experience go ahead and skip.

I was in need of a restaurant for date night so of course I had to YELP. I stumbled upon this wonder! First thing that got me was their SELF-SERVE wine bar!! Yes I did say self serve!! As an upcoming wine connoisseur I was immediately set on this place. The dinning is more on the casual side which surprised me because the atmosphere was so awesome. When you first come in there is a cute little waiting area with a glassed in fire place. We didn't wait long until we were seated. From our table you could see right into the kitchen. They really do mean fire grilled. The food was delicious. I definitely recommend the crab dip which was phenomenal! For my entree I had the steak salad and my boyfriend had shrimp tacos. We were both very happy with our meals! Our server was great and made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us frequently without becoming overbearing. Overall I loved this place. Still wish it was a little more classy and I could've definitely done without the kids fussing behind us but that's nor here not there. Next time I will dress down a little. So yes I will be going back again!

My fiancé and I have now dined at FIREBREW about a dozen times. We both have a good understanding of their menu. Their menu changes from time to time providing new choices. The atmosphere is great. The local beer selection and wine station are a great attraction. My opinion of the food is as follows; the flat iron steak and prime rib are top notch dishes. The pizzas are always good. The pasta dishes are solid choices but would not be my first recommendation. The burger is somewhat dry and smaller than the bun. I would rate them as average. All of the side items are good and fresh. What makes this place is the staff. Whether we sat at the bar or at a table the service is always excellent. Overall this is a great place to dine and it's clear that the owner cares about his product. We will continue to support this restaurant.

I came to Firebrew with a group of twelve and we were all disappointed. We had reservations and the table was ready for us when we got there. We had two tables and our first table filled up quickly. It took a little while for some of the other people to get there (less than 20 minutes after our reservation time) and our server came over to tell us that they could only hold the table for ten more minutes before they sat someone else there. I was a little confused because we had reservations and the rest of our party was definitely coming. Our server told us that we could push the tables together if we wanted to. We decided to push them together once a few more people got there and we received dirty looks from another server and a man I am assuming was the manager. Our server started out being really friendly and making small talk with us then she suddenly was unfriendly. The manager was glaring at us the entire time we were there. I thought maybe I was imagining the dirty looks we were receiving so I mentioned it to other people at our table and several of them agreed with me that he was definitely glaring at us. It made us feel uncomfortable and like we were inconveniencing them somehow. We we not loud or drunk and out of control so I'm not sure what their problem was with us. All of us ordered entrees and most people ordered drinks so they made quite a bit of money off of our table. I would have expected the manager to come over and introduce himself and ask how our meals were. I've received that service in much less expensive restaurants and I feel like that's common courtesy. The bathrooms look nice but it smelled terrible. They are obviously aware of the situation because they have air fresheners all over the place. It smells like there is a sewage backup and I could not even walk back into the bathroom because it was so bad. It's a shame that the service was terrible because we all enjoyed our food. We really did not appreciate receiving dirty looks and feeling like we were inconveniencing them in some way.

You guys.. This place has a wine bar. How friggin' cool is that? This would be a helluvalot cooler if I weren't pregnant but I promise you, once this baby is not longer occupying the Land of Womb, I am going to come here solely for this purpose and totally drink my wine loving face off. What better way to sample different wines? Their beer list is pretty great too, my husband was impressed. Anyway, onto the food. I am going to give them a big fat MEH. It wasn't anything memorable or outstanding, just, satisfied my starvation. We had the crab dip to start, which was unimpressive. I had bacon wrapped shrimp and they were over cooked. The hubs had some insanely huge burger that he said was just alright. I think this places' appeal is mostly the ambiance and the wine bar, duh. Our waiter was overly nice and fake which is annoying as shit, but at least he was attentive. The location is weird too but whatever, its like right around the corner from my house and just a bikes ride away. I hope they can step it up a notch on the food front so my future visits can be filed with culinary goodness to go with the copious amount of fermented grapes I plan to consume.

Checked out Firebrew last night. It was VB restaurant week so they were offering two separate menus--their standard menu as well as the limited restaurant menu which had several appealing options. All four of us opted to order off the restaurant week menu which offered 3 course meals. We got Caesar salads, she crab soup, flank steak, salmon salad, berry sherbert and brownie w/ice cream. The Caesar salad looked different than the normal Caesar salads you expect to see but it was delicious in my opinion. I love Caesar salads but one thing that ruins them for me is several restaurants douse them in Caesar dressing. Firebrew does not do that. They lightly drizzle on the dressing perfectly and it came with halved cherry tomatoes. I love tomatoes in my Caesar salads! No Parmesan cheese though which I do wish it had. The she crab soup was good. It was a little runny (I like mine thick) but it was very tasty and had lump crab in it. The flank steak was great. It was cooked wonderfully and the Demi glaze was tasty. However the mashed potatoes were tasteless. The roasted vegetables were great (zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, butternut squash). Both desserts were very yummy. The atmosphere is great. It's a nice enough restaurant for a datenight but it's also great for families too. It had a nice bar area where thirty something groups were hanging out with drinks and apps--looked fun! They have a self serve wine bar which I thought was great! I was driving my daughter so I didn't get to try it but I hope to go back and try it, cool idea! Although I did like my dinner, I would probably try something else just to try one of the many other options on their standard menu. The service was great!

I got a groupon and had high hopes for this place based on pictures alone. Truth be told, I did check yelp (as I always do) and though the reviews were mediocre (at best) I had hoped that somehow in the past few months they had gotten better. Ok. So let me tell you about the good first. That's always best. The good is pretty cool. They have a really cool bar. And if I was totally into the bar scene like I was 10 years ago then YES ... this would definitely be a place I would totally hang out. They have a self serve wine bar thing and self serve beer taps. That by itself is pretty awesome. 1 star. As we sat waiting for our entree we noticed that a few tables got bread. We did not, nor the table behind us. We then noticed that the other tables were being serviced by a different server. Which begs the question .. Who's in charge of standards of service? If one server is offering bread to other patrons, why isn't our server? Other than not offering us bread, she did a decent job and in a timely manner. 1 star. The food was under seasoned. There isn't much I can say about it because it just wasn't that good. We ended up sharing the pot sticker appetizer. The pot stickers were of the frozen variety so they were pretty good. The asian slaw that accompanied it was not good. It needed salt. It needed acid. I have no idea what they put in it but it managed to mask the fresh cabbage flavor and replace it with just plain bland. We ended up splitting the greek salad (too much romaine) and the bacon wrapped steak. I have a tendency to always order a medium rare (on the rarer side) steak without thinking of the type of establishment. We probably could've gotten away with ordering a medium to medium rare and maybe it would've tasted better. The potatoes were just weird. BUT! The Asparagus was awesome. My husband said it best though, "There is no way asparagus should be the best thing on the plate." And I kind of agree.

I've been to Firebrew 3 times now, and it is always so delicious. Two times we've been here strictly for the self-serve wine bar, and usually we happen to order the Chicken quesadilla with Southwest-flavors. The chicken is rotisserie and in plentiful chunks that make me want to pick it out of my husband's portion before he gets it! Amazing flavors there. The wine bar is also very pleasing. The other time I've been to Firebrew was with a group of 9 for my Masters graduation dinner. We made reservations online, which was very easy, and had no issues with our group. Our service was attentive and my Bacon&Blue Steak was phenomenal. I also had a crock of the Lobster Bisque and a slice of Banana Fosters Ice Cream Cake. Either one of them would be a suitable treat & exceeded my expectations. The owner came by to check on us & thanked me for choosing FB to celebrate my achievement. My great grandfather said it was the best meal he'd had in years, which was very pleasing to hear.

I had dinner here with a friend this week. She had a Groupon and had heard nice things from a coworker. It's decorated nice & our server was friendly, but it was just lacking that factor that makes me return. The wine/beer stations are really cool looking but we were both bummed when we learned how pricey it is. It's also a pretty small selection. I suggest saving your money for a beer/wine festival, it would definitely be cheaper than here. The food was was very forgettable. We had the spinach & artichoke dip, which was filled with so much cheese you basically had to cut it with a fork. We split the Philly cheese steak sandwich and the white veggie pizza. It reminded me of chain restaurant food. If you're into Applebees style food, go for it!
(2)Gil C.
Uhhhhh. Draft beer more expensive then Bottle beer. Now we know that's just plain wrong no matter what brand. Food is very boring and expensive for what it is. Base you prices off your product not your rent. As far as service I never rate it because that all depends on who you get and not a standard
(3)Ryan C.
At first I was hesitant to come here, as I didn't find the menu too inspiring. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The Surf & Turf burger was really good and definitely worth a try (how can you go wrong with a crab cake on a burger?). I'm really eager to try their self-service wine and beer bar...

Let me start off by saying the best thing about this place is the self-serve wine bar (like a soda fountain station but MUCH better! :-) ) as well as a self-serve beer bar (15 choices, some local breweries). Very cool! You can purchase the wine by taste ($1.39), 1/2 glass, or full glass. There were approximately 12 reds and 12 whites to choose from. Can you say FUN? Now, onto the food. Average, at best. I got the Chicago Southside Pizza. I'd give it two stars. My partner had the tilapia...again two stars. We ordered the triple chocolate cheesecake to go and that was average. Service was extremely slow, even when the restaurant was 1/4 full. Slow, slow, slow. Good thing the wine bar kept me entertained!

We had a good first experience at this restaurant, but our second experience, earlier today for lunch was terrible. I ordered a pizza and my husband ordered a sandwich from the specials board. We were the only two people sitting at the bar and after two beers and a 40 minute wait we had no food and could not locate our server/bartender. He was evidently serving an outdoor table so he was gone for long stretches of time. Other tables that had arrived long after us were getting their food, so we waited another 5-10 minutes for him to appear so that we could ask him what the delay was. He said that they were re-making the pizza because they made in incorrectly the first time. We finally received our food and trust me, it looked nothing like the photo of the pizza on this website. I ordered the Chicago style pizza and it had very few toppings and was mostly thin dry crust with hardly any sauce or cheese and only a sprinkling of meat. My husband's sandwich was tasty, but he was disappointed with the very small portion of potato wedges on his plate - about 7 wedges. The server had no personality, acted inconvenienced to be serving us, left us without drinks for long stretches of time, did not bring condiments and did not check on us after bringing our meals, even though we were sitting right at the bar. We told the server we were very disappointed with our meal and service and asked to see the manager. Much to our surprise, he told us that he was the manager. He credited us 30% off the pizza, but he smirked when we told him we dissatisfied with the meal and the service and would not be back. I fear that the owner of this restaurant has made a very poor decision by hiring this individual. It is sad, because we had a very high opinion of this place before today and we were looking forward to returning with a group of friends.

I go here every once in a while and I am a big fan. I can do the wine bar while my husband enjoys the beer bar. They have plenty of food that I can choose from and ask them to omit something to make it Gluten Free and if you make sure to let them know you have allergies they make sure to go talk to the cook personally and let them know to be extra careful with your food. We normally sit at the bar and all the bar tenders that have taken care of us are great. No complaints and we enjoy going back.

We always love going to Firebrew. I have even held work functions there. They have great food, but tonight we brought our baby w us to dinner. There were other babies and children there, so u would think the owners would realize that they should accommodate families. I went to change my son in the bathroom and realized there wasn't a changing table. On our way out i informed the gaggle of waitress and hostess at the podium about the lack of a changing table in which one older women with dirty blonde hair replied that they were aware of the situation in a very snotty tone of voice with no explanation or apology! I would think it is common knowledge that if u are going to have a restaurant in a family neighborhood, that you should have a changing table in the bathroom !

This place just opened up in the Red Mill area this month. Since it is fairly close to where we live we decided to give it a shot last night. The dining room is well laid out with plenty of booth seating and an open kitchen, which I tend to like. It forces the kitchen to be clean and tidy, which this one is. One of the first things you notice is that prices on the menu are very affordable. I am talking at Applebee's levels or below. That initally made me a bit leary but it turned out that the food was more than passable, with a couple of high notes worth mentioning. As our server pointed out to us, all of the chicken on the menu is cooked rotissierre style in their own kitchen. Even the chicken for the chicken tenders on the appetizer menu is cooked this way, then prepped into tenders, and refired in the brick oven. The result was one of the best chicken tenders I have ever had (I snuck part of one off of Carbo-kid's plate). She also had the skirt steak and ate the entire portion. A good sign on quality and for only $11, no complaints from me. My wife had the southwest quesadilla and I had the margharita pizza. Both of these were passable but not spectacular. I found the dough to be a little more "doughy" and chewy than I had expected but the flavors were still pretty good. I was hoping for a crisp, crackling crust but they came up a little short. But, again, at $7 who cares. The draw here is the wine dispensing unit in the middle of the restaurant. I'd love to have one of these in my house but in all likelihood it would cost more than my house. This unit holds a number of bottles that have been opened and then hooked up to a dispensing mechanism. Think wine fridge on steroids. You then buy a $25 or higher pour card that you insert into the unit, hold your glass under your selected wine bottle, and the machine gives you a taste, half-glass, or full glass depending on how drunk you want to get. Now, of course, this screams "GIMMICK!!" and it is a bit gimmicky. The appeal from a business standpoint is the expectation that any customer with money remaining on their card at the end of the night will likely come back again to finish off the card and maybe order some more food (and maybe put some more money on the card). I get it. But still... I will give them kudos for a fairly impressive wine list full of unusual selections. While most restaurants in this price range tend to offer supermarket wines, I did not recognize any of the labels on offer here. My wife tried the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and was very impressed. She found the Voignior to be repulsive and could not drink it. Stay away from that one. For beer, I was a little underwhelmed. They have two or three local brews on tap but most of what they have available is bottled mega-beers. For a place with the word Brew in the title I found this a little odd. I was expecting to see a wall of micro-brew taps. I ended up ordering a dirty martini instead.

My family and I rode our bikes up here when we first moved here several months ago and loved it. We sat outside and had an awesome server, whom we've had every time since (blonde, can't remember her name). The thing that sticks out from our first visit was the Raspberry Iced Tea. i know, just a drink. Seriously? Amazing. I got it the second time we returned and it wasn't that great, but found out that they make it at the bar with syrup, so I just asked for more. They do not fry any of their food, everything is baked. They have pour your own wine and beer stations, though we have not used those . . . yet. Join their text club for special offers and don't forget to checkin on Foursquare.

We were seated quickly, and the staff was fantastic. It is obvious that they focus on giving the patron a good time. Our watiress was attentive without being obtrusive. I had the Flatiron Steak, ordered medium rare (who wants an overdone steak, right?) and it is easily the most flavorful flatiron out there. The wine glaze with mushrooms was awesome, and the meat simply melted. Other meals at the table were the Ravioli, the Southside Pizza, and the Chicken Pesto Totelinni, and by the sounds of my friends during the meal, they had the satisfaction that I did. The atmosphere is clean, and roomy, and even tough we were at a table in the middle of the room, we didn't feel surrounded or cramped. I know we wil lbe going back, because there is to omuch on the menu not to try!!

Self service wine and beer...interesting. Nice atmosphere. Busy on the weekends. Good food. Pretty good service.

Loved dinner with my S-I-L and her friends here. Tasty wine choices and love the ability to try the wine for $1.50 before committing to a whole glass. I had the mushroom soup, steak special, and the pina colada cake. Shared the potsticker and artichoke dip appetizers with the table. Steak, bacon wrapped asparagus, appetizers, cake was awesome. I eat my meat medium and it was cooked perfectly. Mushroom soup was creamy but underseasoned. Baked potato wasn't finished/ cooked all the way through. Here's my only issue: Do I tip on the wine, or don't I? I served MYSELF the wine, and then they take your wine card and ring it up with the bill. But, if the waitress isn't serving my beverages, she's not tipping out a bartender for my wine, and I'm sliding across your friction filled booths, then why am I paying tip for that? Tricky Firebrew. I tipped 20% on what she served but left tip off the rest. So math-scared people, beware.

I went here on a date with my boyfriend and it was perfect! The atmosphere was casual, but I was still able to dress up a little. The staff was cordial and around when needed, but not intrusive. The food was delicious. We had the spinach and artichoke dip and it was one of the best that I've had. I had salmon and asparagus. The tomato pesto on top was just right. My boyfriend had the BBQ chicken wrap. The self service wine and beer bars was a cool novelty. I really enjoyed being able to taste several wines at my leisure.

Wonderful helpful service!!! You are greeted by all staff! They are knowledgable and friendly! Loved my dining experience! I also discovered a new beer (angry orchard) which is a hard cider because of our server! Def. a great place to go with family or friends! Food is delicious & the decor is amazing!!!!

Really enjoyable experience. Wine selection on tap is impressive. Not sure how the wine breathes/aerates from the tap but delicious selection nonetheless. The only negative is a limited food menu the positive is everything I've ordered has been delicious.

I would rate Firebrew a straight 2.5/5 stars, a "C", average....you get the picture. We came here a few times shortly after they opened and enjoyed ourselves with friends. As others have noted, the draw is the self serve wine and beer. I do really really like this as it affords me the opportunity to try several different varieties. So, today we went for dinner. Our first time going in several months, perhaps close to a year. It was slowwwwww in there, not many tables were filled but it was a Monday. The waiter was polite and attentive. We ordered the margarita pizza as an app. it was not quite the margarita pizza I had expected. I enjoyed the crust the most but found there to be too much pesto and felt that the basil would have been better if it had been put on fresh just before serving. DH had the flat iron steak which looked like it was cooked very nicely. He said it was fine. DD had the crab cakes. She enjoyed it and said there wasn't much filler. I did not try it, but it looked just ok. It had bell peppers and appeared to use back fin crab. I'm pretty picky on crab cakes. I don't like a lot of fluff in them (such as bell pepper and filler), and prefer them made from lump crab, so I don't think I would have cared for them. I ate light given we had the pizza app and I was partaking in the wine bar. I had the French onion soup and their version of a Cobb salad. Both were just ok. We walked out with almost a hundred dollar check including tip and none of us had much to drink. That's a lot to pay for average food.

This place is the restaurant equivalent of a C-student who works hard enough, but just isn't bright enough to ever excel. The menu is safe to the point of inducing boredom. In this case, safe does not equal simple meals which allow ingredients to shine. "Safe" here means that the chef lazily designed a menu of the most popular dishes that every bigbox sports bar ever barfed onto middling commercial place settings. I steered clear of their quesadillas and salmon and breaded buffalo chicken salad and opted for a rare steak w/ side of mushrooms in gravy. The cook doused what looked like slices of a good steak in oversalted red gravy & shriveled, overcooked mushrooms. It was a truly stupid way to plate a steak. I can't even say that I feel like it's contemptuous of the ingredients to cover them like that, because it felt like a pitiable inability to do right in the kitchen.

Ate here with family in December and was impressed with the friendly staff and the great food and service. It was our first time here, but we were made to feel like favorite customers. We can't wait to dine here again next time we're in town.

Friendly staff, very clean and modern look inside. Waiter was very nice and upfront with our question. We had a party of 7 they accommodated us. Artichoke dip and fresh salad were delicious. Pizza was fresh. Very nice time.

Clean, friendly, great food. Fun wine machines. Shrimp tacos = amazing. Flatbreads seemed to be gobbled up. Our 3 year old ate daddy's flatbread, she loved it! Place was laid out great. Changing table in both men and women's bathrooms. Bonus star for that one!

Was looking for somewhere different to go out for drinks when in the 757 area. Checked out yelp and was guided to this fun stop. The place is quite casual, when we came in some were waiting to be sat but we walked right up to the bar. They have a self serve wine station which was overly exciting to me. You get a card that acts as your tab, you can buy wine by the taste, 1/2 glass or full. Wednesday's they have 20 dollar bottles as the special. They have 12 whites and 12 reds available so lots of variety. My boyfriend had a beer flight and tried 4-5 microbrews. Needless to say, it filled our main purpose which was to grab a drink. They had outside seating but that was full. They have a lot of seafood options but I can't report on that because I don't eat any of it. Most food is made in a fire oven and you can see that happening from the bar. We weren't super hungry so we shared a bacon cheeseburger. It was cooked as ordered and was tasty. Could have used a better bun. Fries were great as well, baked potato wedges. Not sure if they have dessert, didn't see it on any of the menus but also didn't ask. Would surely go back for a meal, and of course a cocktail based on my experience. I believe our bartenders were Jenny and Dylan, both attentive and welcoming.

No fryers, no microwaves. Just a big gas-fired stone oven. And maybe some grills in the back. And so when faced with this, I went with the easy choice. Pizza. Tasty with shredded chicken, sauteed onions and a sweet barbecue sauce drizzled over it, it was then cut into a checkerboard and served. Big enough to be too much for just one person, but not quite big enough for two to share and be stuffed. If you get the pizza, get something else to go with it. Quiet at lunch time, but the service was still prompt and efficient.

This is my first time here, even though I've passed it so many times I lost count. A $10 coupon from the Entertainment Book made me think about finally trying the place out. The restaurant is located in the Red Mill section and no more than a half mile from Red Mill Commons. Parking is plentiful, but I see larger cars and trucks parking in the compact car parking spots. I guess every vehicle is compact now? The outside of the place is manicured well. Once we came in, it wasn't that busy yet. We were seated pretty quickly and was during happy hour, which out server Allison told us. There are a lot of local beer options, as well as a self service wine area of you like to drink. The ambiance in here is casual, but can get a bit noisy when some that are drunk are in conversation. Since we looked at the menu at home, ordering was very quick. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken entree, substituting the seasonal vegetables with garlic mashed potatoes and my mom ordered the crab cakes entree. The food came out fairly quickly. The bourbon chicken entree was very good. The chicken was quite thick, juicy, and delicious. I've been to other places that are good too, but their chicken always tends to be thin, so this was a good surprise for me here. When you first look at the plate you are about to eat, it doesn't look like there is a lot there. However, once you start eating, your stomach will tell you that there is enough there. The garlic mashed potatoes were really good too. I would get this entree again in the future. My mom gave me a bit of the crab cake to try out. The crab cake was delicious and there were no fillers in there; it was pure crab meat. During this visit, service was on point and there were no issues. As we were finishing, the area we were sitting in was being set up for a private event to be held later that evening, which I think was a rehearsal dinner. Overall, this is a great place to come for entrees. If you're in the area and looking for places to eat, this is a place you should try out. Although the menu looks a bit small, there are a lot of options on there. There are other items on their menu that I'll try out on a future visit here.

Great service, Chris did a great job explaining the specials and making sure we had what we needed. They have a really cool self serve wine area-I don't drink wine but know it's probably appealing to a lot of people. Instead I had their equivalent of an orange dreamsicle and it was delicious! My entree was the salmon with risotto and asparagus. The salmon was thin, and cooked a little more than I'd like, but the risotto was creamy and delicious. For dessert we had their special orange cake. OMG, it smelled and tasted like Fruit Loops! I mean this in a good way! The icing was a tangy cream cheese and the cake was so moist and delicious. Great food, great service. Would recommend!!

I know that I already recently reviewed Firebrew, but I just have a few things to add :) I went again for my hubby's birthday and we sat at the bar to eat and drink. All of the food was delicious as always, but our bartender, Justin, did one extra thing right that set him apart. I asked if they had any chocolate milkshakes, and he said that they don't on the menu, but that he was willing to try to make one for me. I was so impressed by his willingness to go the extra mile for a customer. And it's not like it was a slow night - it was actually quite busy, but he still took the time out to please a customer. I wish there were more bartenders like him! :)

Just had dinner tonight with a few other Yelpers for the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. Overall, a solid spot! And for $20, you really can't ask for anything more. Started things off with the bacon-wrapped asparagus. Wow, those two together... the star of the evening. I did my happy food dance with no embarrassment! As for my entree, I had the flat iron steak cooked rare. This was a pretty good steak and came out with no hiccup. 8 damn good ounces of red meat. As for my dessert, I had the brownie with ice cream on top. The ice cream was delicious... I thought the brownie was rather dry though. Nice spot. Nicely lit. Not too bright. Not too dark. It's a great dinner atmosphere. Good service from the staff, too. This spot is off my beaten path of where I go out for dinner but I'll gladly go back.

I visited Firebrew for the first time last night while participating in a UYE for Virginia Beach Restaurant Week 2015. I have to say from the get go I was impressed with the place when I walked in the door. The interior design is excellent with a lot of woodwork and basically white walls. What brings it all together is the dimmed down yet perfectly placed lighting throughout the dining area. It creates a great mood. One thing I want to bring up before I forget is that our server, I think her name was Paige, let us know that every dish is cooked to order. Nothing is heated in a microwave or deep fried. Pretty much everything comes from the 650 degree oven. So there were 10 of us total attending last night and everyone put together a dinner based off the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week menu. The three course meal included your choice from 5 appetizers, 5 entree's and 3 deserts. Dinner ran $20. I had a cup of She Crab Soup to start with a Flat Iron Steak for dinner and followed that up with Chambord Raspberry Brownie Ala Mode for desert. I found the soup creamy and there were plenty of bits of crab and potato in it, yet the taste was a little salty side and could have been a little bit hotter. The steak was a home run! Cooked to perfection, I asked for medium, it was perfectly prepared with a mushroom gravy and had a beautiful pink color in the center. The mashed potatoes and veggies were also very good. Last but not least was the brownie for desert. The brownie was fresh out of the oven and still warm. It smelled and tasted delicious, but I hate to admit was bit on the dry side. They may want to cut the cooking time by a minute or two. I evenly scooped my ice cream along with each brownie bite and that worked out well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really enjoy it when a restaurant takes the time to make their food look good as well as taste good. The entire meal looked great as they placed everyone's dishes on the table. The service was also perfect throughout the evening. Our server, and I'm kicking myself for not being sure about her name, was extremely knowledgeable about the food and beer/wine menu and was able to answer any and all questions we had. I'm sure if it wasn't so far from home and I was a regular visitor she would know my preferences within a visit or two. Great little place. I'm looking forward to going back and trying out some more dishes.

I'm not sure what the deal is with restaurants that participate in Restaurant Week, but it seems that in my experience the food is never really the best of what they have to offer. My husband and I joined some fellow Yelpers for dinner during restaurant week and when I reviewed the menu prior to arriving I was excited, especially when I knew I was going to get three courses for $20. My first course was a caesar salad. I know, kind of boring, everyone and anyone can make a caesar salad, but it's what I chose. It was okay, nothing fancy and it had cherry tomatoes (so that was a first). I ate it and that was that. My husband ordered the caesar salad too but also wanted to try the bacon wrapped asparagus (an option for the first course, but we wanted the appetizer size). Now after having the asparagus I should have just picked that for my first course instead of the salad. Ohwell, I enjoyed the asparagus wrapped in bacon! Get this when you go! My second course was the roasted chicken with risotto. My chicken wasn't seasoned very well and it was dry. Bummer. However, the risotto with mushrooms and butternut squash was the star of the dish. I would have been happy with a plate of this risotto and no chicken. My husband had the flat iron steak and I sampled a bite, which was tasty, but the mashed potatoes and grilled veggies on his plate looked sad and soggy. For the third course I had the chambord raspberry brownie a la mode. To my disappointment, my brownie was dry. My husband had the coconut angel food cake, which I thought should have been a little more "spongy" but it was also kinda dry. Overall, those we were dining with really enjoyed their food and I wouldn't write this place off, but I'm not going to rush back here anytime soon.

Me likey! Very nice establishment. Awesome warm décor, friendly staff, tasty fresh food and an owner who comes by to ask how the food is and thank you for coming! The wine station is a very cool and unique addition. My babe and I bought a bottle of wine to share (Wine Wednesday), but I think next time I may just try the wine station. We joined their Royalty Rewards program and honestly I can't remember the deal they give you, but signing up was free, and you get some kinda perk for being a member. Overall, the experience there was really nice, and we plan to go back.

Pleasantly surprised by this find. We were greeted promptly, seated quickly and the place has cute decor. We were seated in a booth and quickly greeted by our server. She was informative and patient. I had the tuna and it didn't disappoint. It was done to perfection, moist and the side of asparagus was crisp and delicious. My husband ordered the meat loaf, my daughter the pecan salmon and our other daughter had the Mac and cheese. All of the dishes were so delicious! The salmon was moist and tender. The meat loaf was so good. Almost tasted as if my mom had made it. Mac n cheese was tasty and any adult would all it comfort food.
(5)Aiden B.
The margherita pizza might have been good if it wasn't gushing (not just dripping) olive oil everywhere. Also, what kind of restaurant features pizza on the menu and doesn't have red pepper flakes in an appropriate shaker (the server just brought a cup of red pepper flakes)? The quesadilla on the kids menu was a joke, even though we asked them to add chicken there was barely any added. The Firebrew Dip and Chipotle Mahi Mahi sandwiches were OK, but not great. Really nothing seemed worth coming back for...

Successful visit. I wouldn't have known this place if it wasn't advertised as one of the host of Virginia Beach Restaurant Week 2015. I came here with a friend to support the yelp event and of course to try this place and see what makes them special. It was quite busy and might take awhile to be seated however we were advised that the bar had open space so we decided to sit and dine at the bar. It wasn't that bad at all. In fact, we were directly served and ordered the food. Frankly speaking the one thing the makes this place stand out is the superb customer service. I thought the service was incredibly wonderful. The server was polite, attentive, and ensured that everything you needed comes on time. I'm happy with the menu that was highlighted for said event. It wasn't bad for 20 dollars three course meal. For my visit today, I started with she crab soup followed with Pan seared Mahi served with asparagus and roasted potato and finished up with Coconut rum Angel food cake. I was a bit disappointed with the she crab soup, it was very thin and watery. Though the flavor profile was there but it wasn't that appetizing. The main course was probably the highlight of my meal, the fish was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The sides complemented the main component of the dish. Thought the asparagus was crunchy and the potatoes melted in my mouth. I just love the way it was cooked with a little bit of herbs. I'm not crazy with the dessert. I didn't like it much and I thought it was forgettable. Overall, I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the hospitality service. I would probably not in rush to come back but you never know.

Great casual place. We came here as a party of nine prime time on a Thursday night. They seated us right away and service was outstanding from Dillon. The food was great with special recommendations for the crab dip, the ahi tuna, the fish tacos, and the wait team went above and beyond by splitting the mahi mahi on two plates for our kids.

It's really a 3.5 star place but I'm willing to round up due to customer service. Initially there was a 25-30 minute wait for a table but he bar had plenty of seats so we went with bar service. We came in for Virginia Beach restaurant week. I had the She Crab soup, Flank Steak, and the Chambord Raspberry brownie a la mode. The only let-down, and it was slight, was the She Crab soup. The taste was okay but the soup was a little thin. It wasn't a really creamy soup like I'm used to. My steak was spot on. They definitely did not flunk flank when it came to my steak....it was well seasoned and very tender. The vegetables and mashed potato sides were terrific. My dessert was good. The brownie had chunks of chocolate and a nice raspberry under tone and who could complain about ice cream. Overall I really enjoyed meal. The beers on tab are all first rate brews and the whole restaurant is very warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back to try the regular menu.

Really delish! We shared the pretzels app, then I had the Chicken Pesto Flatbread Pizza and my partner had the Cheddar Jack Ale Burger and Garlic Smashed Potatoes. All were outstanding, so based on that we decided to have dessert. We usually share one dessert, but this time I ordered the perfectly sized Peanut Butter Pie and my partner ordered the deliciously dense Orange Cake and we shared both. Again, outstanding. Turns out the desserts come from a bakery in FL but you'd never know they were not baked right on onsite. Oh! The strawberry lemonade was the best I've ever had. It was like drinking liquid strawberries. If this restaurant was located next to our hotel, we'd eat every meal there. Well worth the $20 cab ride to eat there!

Came here for restaurant week. There was a three course meal special for $20 bucks which I opted for so let's run through the menu: Starter - she crab soup: the pros of this dish was the amount of crab that was actually in the soup. The cons you ask? For one, there was a shell in the soup AND it was lukewarm, if that.. Main course - 8oz flat iron steak with potatoes and veggies: my steak was cooked well (medium-well). Nothing spectacular though. Dessert - raspberry drizzled brownie with ice cream: My only complaint/recommendation would have been to warm the brownie. It was cold and was not very moist. I assume they had these sitting out for some time. Overall - I won't loose any sleep if I never make it back.

Stopped by Firebrew last night with a gal pal from out of town. I've heard it's good from a few local friends but haven't been in yet. Last night, a Monday night, at around 8pm, they were pretty dead. I saw only one other table inside and one couple at the bar. Fine by us as we haven't seen each other in a while and we spent a few hours catching up on each others lives. I had already eaten a fairly large lunch so I wasn't starving but their fresh pizza menu looked delicious so we decided to split the white veggie pizza and each get a side salad. I chose the garden salad which had greens, carrots, cucumbers, sliced cherry tomatoes and candied pecans on top. I selected balsamic vinaigrette dressing and it was really good. The dressed was delish. The pizza was very yummy also. I believe it had quite a bit of white cheese, onions, spinach, chopped tomatoes and mushroom with garlic. The waitress said the owner is from Chicago so they cut everything Chicago style, which worked out fine so we could take little pieces as we talked and nibble which is what we did. The salad was good, the pizza was good, and the watiress was very good. She refilled our water several times and basically left us to talk and catch up for a few hours. We sat there until they closed and she still didn't rush us out but we left so they could close up and go home. I saw a few other items on the menu I'd like to try and I know my boyfriend would love their fresh pizzas. I am not a drinker so I can't comment on the alcohol here but it looks like it's probably something people who like alcohol would enjoy. Lots of wine, specialty drinks, and beer on tap. I'll be back.

Checked out Firebrew for Restaurant Week and ... ok. Typically restaurants hyping the primary food-making device, in this case an oven, tend to price gouge the crap out of the menu items. It's like, look people, if you want your food cooked in this mammoth fire pit that used to heat the entire Smurf Village, you're going to have to fork over some money. But that's not the case at Firebrew. Even keeping in mind this is Restaurant Week so deals abound, $20 was a good value for bacon-wrapped asparagus, salmon salad, and brownie dessert concoction. And it was a generous slab of salmon on that salad - at least a $7 cut from Trapper John's anyway. And our server was awesome. Very attentive and professional, and quick with the whole pre-bussing drill. I think her name was Jackie, but I could be wrong. You ever have those moments where you're typing up a review but Corrosion of Conformity is on the box so it's like ... brain scramble? Yup.

Being as this was my first time here I must say my palate was pleased not only with the local beer but with the food as well. I ordered the grilled salmon salad which was simply fabulous! It was cooked to perfection and the greens where fresh. My taste buds screamed with delight! The waitress was great! We never had to ask once for a refill on our drinks or anything. She was very professional and attentive which means a lot . She stated the soup of the day and what was in tap. The atmosphere was really nice as it wasn't loud and well shall I say exhausting. Some places can be entirely to loud and that alone exhaust me personally. This little place was a breath of fresh air nestled in a little area. If your in the area and would like to try some good food and local beers stop by this place. Your palate will thank you and your wallet/ purse!

It has taken me way too long to write this review, so hopefully I can do the restaurant justice and express all the things I like about it. Located at the General Booth and Nimmo Pkwy intersection in a newer shopping plaza, so it is a little off of the beaten path and is easy to miss if you don't frequent the area. But the area it's located in is very nice and sort of family oriented. Firebrew is kid friendly but very much geared for the adults. There is some outdoor seating and the inside is big enough to accommodate large parties. The decor is very modern but simple with a decent sized bar. Another highlight about the restaurant is that you can see the kitchen from almost any seat in the building. The food here is awesome!! I try something different every time I come. My most recent visit I had the Prime Rib that came with asparagus and roasted potatoes, all of which was cooked to perfection. Other highlighted meals was the ribeye and the Mac and Cheese with sausage, yum!! The have an emphasis on local craft beers and the one thing that sets them apart from their competitors is their self-serving wine tasting station, get your tasting card and enjoy! Another adult beverage that could possibly get me in trouble because it is so good is the Red Sangria, it isn't smack "Yo Mama" good but pretty close. Customer service is very good here and the management is visible and friendly. I singe up for their rewards program and have cashed in on a birthday deal that was a free entree along with a couple other perks. Do yourself a favor and check them out! It's good food and spirits for a fair price, can't really go wrong with that pairing.

My wife and I paid another visit to FireBrew with our grandkids on a Monday evening. Our server was Daniel and was there to tell us about the specials and some possible apps. It's been a few weeks since we were here and the menu has changed. My wife's favorite, the Beggar's Purse has been eliminated. Daniel explained that it would occasionally come back as a special item but was not available at the present time. We started with the bacon wrapped asparagus - thank goodness that was still available! I tried the pizza this evening, six cheese with mushrooms and onions. It was the first time I've had a pizza here. It was very good. My wife had the pierogies and she enjoyed them. The grandkids had the Santa Fe chicken salad and shared my pizza.

We went here for dinner. The service was great and the food was okay but overpriced for the quality. I would eat here for lunch but there are definitely better places for dinner for the price.

Appetizer was amazing!!!! Best one ever !!! Food was great. Drinks were amazing but expensive. Only 4 starts because it's crowded. Yeah it was busy but idk why they have tables right next to the bar not even foot away so my husband got to sit behind this guy who was drinking at the bar and it was really uncomfortable to watch. Food was so so amazing but it won't come out like the picture on the menu so don't get that excited. It won't be that fancy looking. It's almost like expensive and fancy food version of hooters. Lol. Waitresses with shorts and waiters with no motive whatsoever who all sit at the bar and started eating and everything idk if we were close to closing time(9pm) but I guess it's a friendly restaurant. If you were looking to eat and drink then I really recommend this place but if you were to have romantic dinner? Then no. It's too loud and too busy to be having relaxing dinner.

Good service. I thought the food was pricey and the main items are flat breads and pizza's. Other items are on the menu but again pricey for lunch. They do offer excellent lunch specials. Overall it's a great atmosphere with friendly service and quality food. The folks in my party did enjoy their pizzas.

First visit to Virginia Beach found this place and feel in love with the service, quality of food, top notch all the way..liked how owner was observant to all the guests so much went above and beyond, noticed my daughter was cold and adjusted the thermostat for her and checking the food orders before the were delivered to table.. Recommend this place to everyone visiting or living in VA beach... Can't wait to go back again.

We eat here 2-4 times a month and it's our favorite local dining spot. Friendly, attentive staff and really great food. While buzzing with typical restaurant activity, it is not so loud that you can't have normal conversation with dinner guests.

Came here with my family for dinner and was very impressed. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were courteous and professional. We started with the southwest flatbread appetizer which was topped with black beans, corn and a southwest ranch aioli and a mango salsa on the side. It was delicious! My wife got the mahi mahi sandwich with Swiss cheese, tomatoes, field greens, sautéed onions on a brioche roll. I was very impressed and will definitely return for that alone. I had the surf and turf burger which is a half pound burger topped with a 4 oz. crab cake. The burger was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly as I ordered. I devoured it. They don't fry anything at this place so there are no French fries to be found. What you will find is ridiculously well done roasted potatoes. They are excellent! The pricing was excellent in my opinion. Reasonable and affordable. I will definitely be coming back many times!

So we first heard of Firebrew when they were doing a launch of a local brewery's new beer and have just now had a chance to go for a date night. When you first walk in you are greeted by a walk up wine dispenser (which is already pretty cool in my book) and the bar behind the dispenser. As you sit down you can see the huge oven in which they "fire" all the food hence the name FIREbrew. The food came out seasoned well and so flavorful. Even when they were super busy that night it only took about 20 mins to get everything. Their selection of beer is on par with any beer snob that only wants local breweries. No Bud light Miller light seen here and I am totally ok with that! Excellent place and we will surely be back!

Went on a Sunday; which even from 3-6 on Sundays they have happy hour specials. 90% of the meals is cooked on a fire brick oven and is prepared to order. But worth it! I had a salmon cake appetizer - yummy! Also stuff salmon with spinach and mushrooms for my meal. The lemon sauce they drizzle over the salmon was real lemony. Made the dish a little tangy but nevertheless, it was good! All the food seems very appetizing and I doubt you would go wrong in what you get bc after all, it's cooked in a brick oven. Some of the other features this place have is a self serve beer and wine station. It's like getting a preloaded card and being able to try the beers (even local beers) & wine to your liking. I will definitely go back. Also kids eat free on Sundays & have specials throughout the week

Realy happy to have stopped in here. Good service and atmosphere. The selection of beers was good and the menu was full of good sounding dishes. She crab soup and a steak/ veggies plate was right in the money. I will be back.

We went here the night after Margie and Ray's and were pleasantly surprised! The food was awesome and the service was great. So good we went back the following night. We are here for 7 nights and already planning a trip back while here. I ordered the steak salad both nights as did my wife. It was the best steak ever tasted. The kids were happy with the pizza and quasedillas.

Last night we enjoyed wine, appetizers, excellent service and a relaxing dinner on their patio. Will return soon. Carol & Dave.

Boss took us out for lunch since we were in the area and I was pretty excited after seeing the reviews for this place. I looked over the menu and was pretty impressed with the emphasis of no microwaves or frying done at the place. The menu offers oven roasted pizzas, burgers, seafood, and American fare. I ordered a margherita pizza. This is where I wasn't blown away with the place. The sauce was surprisingly more pesto and the diced tomatoes were all over the pizza. I think I'm more for the traditional margherita. The service was okay. It was what I expected at any place I go to. I think this place would be better to go to at night to appreciate the ambiance more and it justifies a drink especially with all the beer and wine taps I could see. With all the rave reviews, I am certain I just need to try this place for dinner one day.

We've never had a bad time here! Service is stellar and the foods good. I ordered a medium burger anf it was perfectly medium. Impressive! The pizzas are also pretty good.

Ok food, great service! Our food: ribeye steak, pretzel app, and a side of their roasted potatoes. The ribeye was very good, my husband doesn't really like mustard but loved this steak even with the mustard on it! The pretzel app was very disappointing. I consider myself a sort of pretzel addict and I've never been so let down. The cheese sauce was luke warm, the pretzel was more of a pretzel bread than a pretzel. Think pretzel looking on the outside but doughy bread on the inside, very unlike a pretzel. This was unfortunate as it was my main dish for dinner (being a vegetarian the menu was limited). The waitress was superb, answered every question we had and when our drinks were half gone we had fresh ones at the ready! We will go again and try some other dishes and see if we can both find something to our liking.

Great atmosphere, delicious food and the bonus is that the menu has Gluten Free items clearly marked. I have celiac and very cautious when dining out with GF menus. This place is great and I didn't have any reactions. Top spot if I lived closer but will definitely be back. I mean they have a wine bar and variety of beers for those that can drink them. Specials throughout the week as well.

This is an absolute terrific place. The atmosphere and décor was very inviting and relaxing. My wife and I had the bacon-wrapped shrimp which was delicious. We also had the Crab Burger which was also delicious. We will definitely be coming back eventhough we stay in Portsmouth.

I have mixed feelings about Firebrew, but feel good about giving it four stars. The most interesting thing I felt about Firebrew is how easily they could make this into a chain. The design is commercial, ample seating, excellent atmosphere, a professional looking menu, with clean tastes, and a great bar/beer self-service station, that is something I've not seen before (although full disclosure, I don't do a lot of "Gastropub" type eateries). They even have a club you can join! Honestly, I could see this place in any city. With that praise, comes the slight stigma of what I call the Middle America Restaurant (Ruby Tuesdays, TGIF, Carraba's, et. al.) which is while the food is good, it's not wildly great. For my appetizer, I went with bacon wrapped shrimp, because, everything is good with bacon. This didn't disappoint from a flavor profile, sweet sauce, salt bacon is always a good combination. But the greens on the plate seemed unnecessary, since there was so much sauce that they just sorta became mush. For my meal I debated between two menu items, the Tuna (which, I've just had two of the best Tuna steaks ever locally) and the Salmon. I opted to go with the Salmon on my waitresses recommendation. Now, this complaint is going to seem like I'm insane based on my previous comment, but it was completely *under* sauced. The Salmon was cooked nicely and had a very dry breadcrumb like coating (which was spiced nicely, just dry) on top of that was very salty asparagus, and below it, plain white rice. At the bottom of the fish, was about a teaspoon of sauce. It was delicious! But, it wasn't nearly enough to cope with the full piece of fish, let alone the white rice or asparagus. Oh! My drink! I got a mixed drink, something I rarely do, because I'm by myself, lol. Anyway, I got the Toasted Almond, and it was the best thing I had! Delicious. If you like White Russians, you've simply got to try it. Firebrew is a good restaurant. If you're family is in the mood for one of the big box chain stores for dinner, you should really try Firebrew first.

Went for the first time this past weekend, and really enjoyed the self serve wine station, the atmosphere of the place and the wait staff. The margherita pizza was ok...I've had better and my boyfriend thought the cheddar jack ale burger was pretty good. Our experience was ruined by people throwing things at us while we ate. Although we were moved to a different table I really wish the table that was throwing things was asked to leave.

We went here as a family on our vacation and everything was amazing. The drink list was awesome. The food was great and the presentation was very good. The service was awesome. We even split two desserts and they, unsurprisingly, were also great. Definitely would recommend.

My boyfriend took me here for the first time and I was so surprised we just came for lunch but it was beyond delicious! I can't wait to come back and try the wine self serve. Also there're drink specials are ridiculous. Must try the flat breat and the bacon and blue. YUMMIEST!

Ever wanted a great restaurant with great food for a mid range price ? Then Firebrew should become a regular stop on your way from work, a family night out, or for lunch. Right when you walk in the door I feel like I've stepped into a classy friendly establishment. I was greeted by the manager, sat outside with two lovely ladies and poured over the menu. If you have never been to Firebrew before chances are the waitress will tell you about how they operate. This seems to be the only inconsistent wheel that turns at Firebrew. They have no microwaves , cook all food on an open flame fresh to order. Something I thing should be told consistently to every customer who walks through the door for the first time! The lunch menu was very affordable (although it only has 4 items on it ) with some great items. I decided on the 6 cheese pizza with an add-on of goat cheese with an appetizer of meatballs. Our meatballs were nicely shaped, flavorful and cooked perfectly. Served with an in house marinara sauce and shredded parmasean. Although the meatballs were great, the marinara sauce with chunky tomatoes and string seasoning stole the show! My pizza was hot, fresh and just made all the better with drops of goat cheese. If you do choose the six cheese pizza from Firebrew, give yourself an early present and add goat cheese. The toasted cheese with the creamy tart flavor of goat cheese is something that cannot be ignored. If your looking for good service with great food and a peace of mind your not eating frozen microwave dinners, definatley give Firebrew a chance to stimulate your taste buds.

Great place! The atmosphere is fun and the menu is versatile. The wait staff are attentive and efficient. They have a variety of Gluten Free foods that I feel safe ordering for my daughter who has Celiacs Disease and they even make it in a smaller kid size portion. Will definitely return again!

I love this place! It was awesome how they were able to accommodate my large party (20) last minute! It wasn't my first pick as to where I wanted to celebrate my birthday, but I am happy that I chose it. I first heard about this place from my co-worker and she said the food is amazing for such a reasonable price, and I totally agree! I ordered the rib eye steak with roasted potatoes and veggies, and I loved everything! The steak is topped with a sauce, which I loved. However, people from my party felt like the sauce is overwhelming so maybe you can ask to put it on the side, or maybe not as much. Of course I can't forget about the self-serve wine / beer bar, which everyone in my party loved! It's very convenient and user friendly. It's nice not have to wait for your server to come, and you can also choose the amount of wine you want! I will definitely be coming back :)

I love the atmosphere of this upbeat modern bar and dining. good craft beer selection from local brewery's . Wine prices are moderate but not high end. Selection is decent but could use more true Italian Pinot Grigio as that is my favorite. Bacon wrapped shrimp is good along with the flat iron steak. She crab soup needed more crab too much of cream base. The Parmesan risotto with Mushroom and house marinara was a great starter ! Also really like the spinach artichoke dip! Good hangout to sit at bar for some football or news catchup too!
